Maps Of Jerusalem Gate - Step # 6
Printed Maps Of Jerusalem
An Anonymous Map From Seventeenth Century, 1543.
Moldoven Collection, 41x28cm (87k)
This map is part of a series of maps drawn during the fifteenth to the
seventeenth century, in which an attempt is made to depict the way
Jerusalem was in biblical times. Little historical or Archeological
information was available at the time the map was drawn, thus the map
reflects the way the author envisaged Jerusalem. The map is partly
based upon Josephus Flavius' book written during the period of the
second temple.
