F.W Sieber 1818 Laor Collection, 61x47cm (130k) The nineteenth century marked the start of the crumbling of the Ottoman Empire. This led to a new era, in which many people of different nations started their pilgrimage to Jerusalem. In 1818, a Czech doctor named Sieber visited Jerusalem, and was the first person known to make a geodesic map of Jerusalem.
