Maps Of Jerusalem Gate - Step # 14
Printed Maps Of Jerusalem
A.G. Wartensleben 1870
National Librarry, 43x37cm (93k)
This map was drawn by Wartensleben, a German aristocrat, who visited
Jerusalem in the middle of the nineteenth century. He wrote a book on
Jerusalem and included a map, which depicted Jerusalem as it was at
the end of the Ottaman Empire. This map portrays the era, when many
nations tried to wrest control of the Ottaman Empire's assets. These
nations accomplished that, among other things, by building on the
inside as well as the outside of the Old City.
